Arusha National Park

Depending on your preference and weather conditions, the trip may begin with a walking safari led by an experienced, armed ranger. This walk allows you to get close to giraffes, warthogs, zebras, and even buffalo on foot — a truly thrilling and rare safari experience in Tanzania. You’ll also pass through montane forest areas where you might encounter blue monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and spot countless species of birds.

After the walk, you’ll switch to a vehicle game drive, traversing the park’s varied landscapes — from the lush forest of Mount Meru’s lower slopes, through the open savannahs, to the impressive Ngurdoto Crater, often referred to as the “Little Ngorongoro.” The crater’s steep walls shelter swampy terrain, which attracts a wide range of wildlife.

A picnic lunch is enjoyed at a scenic viewpoint, often overlooking one of the Momella Lakes, where flamingos and waterbirds gather. If opted in advance, you may also enjoy a canoe safari on Momella Lake — paddling quietly past hippos and birds with Mount Kilimanjaro rising in the distance on a clear day.

Throughout the drive, your guide will explain the park’s ecosystems, flora, fauna, and the cultural and geological history of Mount Meru, the second-highest peak in Tanzania that looms majestically within the park.

By 4:30 – 5:00 PM, the safari concludes, and you’ll make your way back to Arusha. Drop-off at your hotel marks the end of a refreshing day immersed in nature and wildlife, all without venturing far from the city.
