An incredible six-day Selous, Ruaha, and Mikumi Park safari will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the Southern Circuit, which includes three national parks: Selous Game Reserve (Nyerere National Park), Udzungwa Mountains, and Mikumi National Park. This safari takes you through contrasting terrains, from Selous’s river networks and woodland, to Udzungwa Mountains, and finally to Mikumi’s open plains that resemble the Serengeti.

Full Itinerary
- Day 1: Pick up from Airport / Hotel – Nyerere National Park
You will be picked up at the airport or your accommodation in Dar es Salaam by your driver guide and driven to Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve). Upon arrival, you will check in at the lodge for lunch and a short rest. In the late afternoon, you will head out for a boat safari along the Rufiji River. Here, you are likely to spot crocodiles, hippopotamuses, various bird species, and other animals gathering to drink from the river. After enjoying the sunset, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

- Day 2: Nyerere National Park – Full Day
Following breakfast, you will begin a full-day game drive in Nyerere National Park, with a picnic lunch served at midday. Your guide will take you through a range of habitats, including grasslands, forests, and riverbanks. Expect to encounter a variety of wildlife, such as elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, and more. Nyerere National Park is also ideal for birdwatching, offering sightings of numerous bird species. The game drive continues until sunset, after which you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

- Day 3 : Nyerere National Park – Mikumi National Park
Early in the morning, you will be served light breakfast and begin a walking safari to explore the African bush. This offers a chance to spot smaller wildlife that is often missed from a safari vehicle and to follow fresh animal tracks along the way. After the walk, you will return to your lodge for a full continental breakfast.
After breakfast, you will check out and continue your safari to Mikumi National Park. The drive takes you through villages, offering incredible views along the way. Depending on your arrival time at Mikumi, you may head out for a sunset game drive. Otherwise, you will check in at the lodge within Mikumi for dinner and an overnight stay.

- Day 4: Nyerere National Park – Udzungwa Mountains
After breakfast, you will be picked up from your lodge and driven to the Udzungwa Mountains. Upon arrival and registration at the gate, you will begin the Sanje route hike to view the four-stage waterfalls. Udzungwa is one of the world’s recognized biodiversity hotspots, home to 11 primate species, including two that are found nowhere else on Earth.
You may also encounter habituated Sanje mangabeys, a variety of endemic plant species, birds, reptiles, amphibians, butterflies, and more. In the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

- Day 5: Mikumi National Park – Full Day
You will wake up early and set out on a sunrise game drive. After the drive, you will return to the lodge for breakfast and then resume your game drive, with a packed lunch to enjoy while out in the wilderness. Today, you should expect to see lion, buffalo, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, impala, warthog, elephant, hippo and more than 300 bird species. In the evening, you will return to camp for dinner and settle in for your overnight stay.

- Day 6: Mikumi National Park – Back to Dar es Salaam
Following breakfast, you will check out and visit a Maasai village in Mikumi, Morogoro. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to watch traditional Maasai dancing and learn about their culture. There will also be time to take photos. After the visit, you will return to Dar es Salaam. Lunch will be at your preferred spot in Morogoro town along the way. Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, you will be dropped off at your location, marking the end of your safari.
