- Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Your actual wildlife safari begins with a two-hour drive to Tarangire National Park, known for its large herds of elephants and massive baobab trees. After a brief registration at the gate, you’ll head straight into a day-long game drive in search of big game, spending the entire day in the bush with a picnic lunch at one of the designated sites. In Tarangire, you can expect a highlight of the Tanzanian safari experience, with high chances of spotting elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, impalas, gazelles, and the rare gerenuk.
With a bit of luck, you may also see predators such as cheetahs, leopards, and lions, along with the rare fringe-eared oryx. The park is also a haven for birdlife, including rare species like the ashy starling and many others. Later in the afternoon, you will be transferred to Karatu in the Ngorongoro Highlands for dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
- Day 3 : Karatu – Ngorongoro Crater
Following breakfast at the lodge, we set off for Ngorongoro Conservation Area, crossing the Great Rift Valley along the way with beautiful scenery to appreciate. After a short stop at the Loduare Main Gate, where we will register for access to the conservation area, you will be driven to the crater rim for another brief stop to take in the stunning views over the crater floor and capture some photos. We will then descend into the crater for a full day of game drives, checking in at the lodge by late afternoon, around 6.00 PM.
Ngorongoro Crater, also known as the Eden of Africa, is the only place where you can spot the Big Five in a single day with just a bit of luck. Covering about 21 kilometres across, it is the largest unbroken caldera in the world, and the sheer number of animals you may see up close during a single day of game drives is remarkable. Expect sightings of elephants, lions, zebras, hyenas, jackals, rhinos, leopards, cheetahs – you name it.
Picnic lunch will be served at a designated site within the crater, but be mindful of the kites as they are known to snatch food (and sometimes fingers). Drive to your lodge for dinner and overnight in the late afternoon.
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
- Day 4: Ngorongoro Conservation Area – Serengeti National Park
You will wake up early in the morning for breakfast, then we set off again, further into the wilderness, to Serengeti National Park – the land of the big cats and home to the famous Great Wildebeest Migration. We will stop briefly at Naabi Hill Gate for registration, then spend the rest of the day on game drives across the endless plains. Game drives will continue until late in the afternoon, when you will check in at your lodge.
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
- Day 5: Full day at Serengeti
Early morning game drive is a good option on this day to spot nocturnal species as well as diurnal ones as they rise for a new day. In the morning, many animals can also be easily seen along the tracks as they move away from the morning dew, accompanied by the songs of birds greeting the day. Depending on the season in which you visit Serengeti, you may be lucky enough to witness the herds of the Great Wildebeest Migration (ask our experts about their current location).
Even without the wildebeest migration, Serengeti is home to thousands of resident animals including buffaloes, leopards, cheetahs, lions, elephants, topis, Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles, impalas, warthogs, and many bird species that are permanent residents of this remarkable park.
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
